Core Neighbourhoods at Work for Employers

Core Neighbourhoods At Work (CNAW) has been addressing the employment and training needs of Saskatoon’s core neighbourhood residents since 2003. Each year, the program provides employment training for more than 800 individuals.

We have a Resource Centre with seven computers and four employment coordinators. Each day we aim to fill open positions with qualified individuals from the core neighbourhoods looking to develop their careers with Saskatoon businesses. In fact, if you regularly post job openings online, there’s a good chance we’ve been helping you pre-screen and recruit already. 

Recruitment and Retention Services

The Core Neighbourhoods at Work Program provides employers with the following services:

1. We advertise for you. 

Reduce your advertising costs! There is no cost to advertise job opportunities with us.

2. We recruit for you.

Opportunity for you to work in partnership with an organization that has access to a large and varied pool of job seekers.

With over 800 job seekers accessing our services annually, businesses can access a largely untapped labour pool with a variety of skill sets.

3. We pre-screen for you.

We collaborate with employers to match job vacancies with available and qualified candidates.

4. We work for you.

Access to Quint's employment coordinators to help ensure a successful workplace experience.

We act as a liaison between parties, providing ongoing support for a successful transition into your business.

5. We host for you.

Employer Spotlight Events: We advertise, host, set-up, and staff a hiring event for your company -- at no cost to you. 

Mini Job Fairs: Small scale job fairs open to no more than 10 businesses per event.

Community Job Fair: Annual event with more than 50 exhibitors and 800 job seekers in attendance.  Co-organized with City of Saskatoon, Saskatoon Public Schools and Catholic Family Services.

Employment Coordinators
  • Assist job-seekers with practical supports, including resume-writing, interview preparation and job-hunting;
  • Ensure we have a skilled and trained workforce to meet the growing demands of the business world;
  • And help individuals overcome obstacles in their personal lives and foster long-term, meaningful employment.

Program Goals:
  1. To gain knowledge of local businesses
  2. To link job seekers with businesses
  3. To work collaboratively with businesses and training institutions to find solutions to labour market needs
